CONCUSSION RECOVERY

What are your tools?

You have many tools in your box when recovering from a concussion. We will help you figure out which ones are most important to reduce your symptoms. We recommend that you put together a rescue kit. This kit has all the tools you need to help you reduce stimulation to your overwhelmed brain which will bring your symptoms down. Patients will often need/ their rescue kit in the car, at work, or while traveling.

Rescue Kit

  • Eye mask - for Palming and recovery from visual/light overstimulation.

  • Brimmed hat is best, it can be ball cap or sun hat style.

  • Ear plugs - there are many styles (see Noise Sensitivity Tools for earplugs for specifics).

  • Dark sunglasses or light sensitivity glasses.
  • Rescue Remedy - homeopathic remedy for stress.

  • Water - hydration is always helpful as dehydration is a major migraine trigger.

  • Essential oils - some people find aromatherapy soothing and helpful in reducing stress, anxiety, and migraines.

  • Medication - for migraine, nausea, pain. Have what medications work for you with you at all times.

    • Felix Gray -  clear and amber tint available, mid-range price

    • Avulux - these block blue, amber, and red light (Migraine specific), more expensive

    • Sleep ZM - what we carry in the office currently, great starter option

  • Screen Filters

  • Monotone phone screen

  • Blue light blocking (night mode on cell phone)

  • Computer screen tint app - darkens or tints your screen to improve light tolerance:
