There are approximately 45 million school aged programs in the U.S., making the opportunity for injury enormous. Sports injuries are the second leading cause of emergency room visits for children and adolescents, and the second leading cause of injuries in school. It has become more common to see young athletes participate on multiple teams at the same time and train year-round. This training may be specialized or multisport but can be a contributing factor.
